...FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH FRIDAY EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...A portion of southeast Texas, including the following
areas, Brazos, Burleson, Coastal Harris, Grimes, Houston, Inland
Harris, Madison, Montgomery, Northern Liberty, Polk, San Jacinto,
Southern Liberty, Trinity, Walker, Waller and Washington.

* WHEN...Through Friday evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water
crossings may be flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Though heavy rain has waned this afternoon, the environment
remains favorable for additional heavy rainfall. Model
guidance suggests potential for heavier rains in the watch
area overnight and tomorrow. Any further rainfall would at
best slow the recission of existing floodwaters, and at worst
would aggravate this flooding. Saturated soils will result in
a greater risk of flash flooding, even at rain rates that
typically do not cause problems in this area. 1-2 inches of
new rainfall are possible with isolated totals of up to 3-4
inches.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.

Brazos Counties.

For the Navasota River...including Normangee...Major flooding is
forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

To escape rising water, take the shortest path to higher ground.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.

...FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE...

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
This approaches the flood of record.

* WHERE...Navasota River near Normangee.

* WHEN...Until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Major lowland flooding begins with massive
inundation of the flood plain as the river is close to 2 miles
wide and OSR become inundated one half mile on the right bank and
1.5 miles on the left bank.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 3:00 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 16.5 feet.
- Bankfull stage is 12.0 feet.
- Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
ending at 3:00 PM CDT Thursday was 16.5 feet.
- Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 24.3
feet Saturday afternoon.
- Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
- Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
22.7 feet on 05/01/2009.
